MISSION

The City of Akron Holocaust Committee believes that the lessons of the Holocaust are important because man’s inhumanity to man continues to threaten world freedom. We pledge to never forget the millions of innocent victims who lost their lives and the thousands of others who aided the survivors. Through education and our annual writing and arts contest we hope to enlighten today’s youth and help ensure that history will not repeat itself.

We believe that:

  • The lessons of the Holocaust are important in today's world to ensure that battles for freedom are the battles that are won and therefore:
    • We must eliminate hatred and prejudice which still exist in today's world.
    • We need to engage students to consider these events through writing and the arts, thereby, promoting high quality educational opportunities while adhering to State of Ohio educational standards.

VISION STATEMENT

Our hope is to silence the echoes of the Holocaust that are reverberating through conflicts that continue to plague our world.
