Legislation
Obtain
all necessary legislation required to authorize the Service Director to
enter into design or construction contracts for projects in the Capital
Improvements program.
Service Counter
Serve
the general public through the service counter by supplying
prints, information and authorized services to engineers, surveyors,
architects, real estate persons, lawyers and property owners, etc.
Contract Preparation
Administer
and coordinate the process of bidding City construction contracts,
prepare and administer the execution of contracts, process the payment
of monthly invoices from contractors and perform the accounts receivable
function relative to City construction contracts.
Street Improvement and Street
Dedication Petition Program
Administer
the street improvement and street dedication petition program through
the ward councilperson, community block clubs and individual citizens.
Private Development Agreements
Negotiate
and administer agreements with private developers to guarantee the
completion and acceptance of street improvements constructed by them
that will become City responsibility after the three year Maintenance
Bond is released.
Underground Records and Central
Records Files
Manage
the storage and maintenance of underground records, central records
files, and project correspondence files.
Secretarial Staff
Provide
secretarial and clerical support to the Engineering Bureau for word
processing, filing, personnel records, maintenance of accounting
records, preparation of payroll report, and processing of purchase
requisitions for Bureau of Engineering materials, equipment and
supplies.
Computer Mapping
Develop
and maintain the computerized city base map and underground record
system. Administer the preparation of as-built record drawings.
Resolving Legal Claims
Represent
Engineering Bureau when requested by the Law Department, assist in
resolving legal claims involving City street records and construction
standards.
Computer Hardware & Software
Support
Provide
computer hardware and software support for the Engineering Bureau
