CSO Modeling Projections

An essential tool developed as part of the CSO Long Term Control Plan was a computer model to examine the hydraulic and water quality response in the collection and receiving water systems during wet weather (rainfall) conditions. The following table was generated by utilizing the computer model and estimates the total volume of overflow, the number of overflow events and the CBOD Load discharge at each CSO during all actual rainfall events which occurred in 1994. 1994 was considered to represent an average annual rainfall.

Notes:

1) Number of Events based on 6-hour inter-event time

2) Akron WPCS flow represents secondary treatment, using maximum rate of 110 mgd, and assumes the stormwater retention pumping capacity is not exceeded. This volume includes the volume released back to the Akron WPCS after having up to 10 MG stored on an event basis.
