Virginia RobinsonVIRGINIA R. ROBINSON

Virginia R. Robinson was appointed Interim Personnel Director for the City of Akron in January of 2006 by the Akron Civil Service Commission.

She had been a member of the commission since 1997. After the six month interim period, Ms. Robinson was named director in November 2006, filling the vacancy created by the death of Virgil Collins in 2005.

Prior to her appointment, Virginia, was General Counsel to Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority for 16 years. She retired from AMHA in 2005 and accepted the position of Development Director of the Akron Bar Association Foundation. She began practicing law in 1986 and was an Assistant Director of Law for the City of Akron from 1987 to 1988.

Before her illustrious career in law, Ms. Robinson was a Staff Nurse, Staff Development Instructor and Clinical Supervisor for the Rehabilitation & Oncology Units of Akron City Hospital.

Virginia received her Diploma in Nursing from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Akron, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Akron, School of Law.

She served on the Our Lady of The Elms School Board, and is the Past President of The Akron Bar Association, Greater Akron Music Association, and the Law Alumni Association of the University of Akron, School of Law.

Virginia Robinson retired in 2009.
