Shelia SmithSHELIA SMITH

Shelia Smith was elected to the Akron Board of Education in November of 2005 and served until December of 2009.

Shelia was born on May 23, 1954 in Asheville, North Carolina. Her family moved to Youngstown in 1968, where she graduated from Rayen High School, and attended Youngstown State University.

As a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and National Association of Workforce Development Professionals; she formerly worked as a Program Coordinator of the Educational Development and Guidance for Employment Program at the East Akron Community House.

Shelia Smith remains in Akron and is now a business consultant. Her vision is to open a non-profit to service children and families.
