Michael Williams was first elected to Akron City Council in January 1988. First serving his West Akron neighborhood as 4th Ward Councilman, then Councilman-at-Large. As a Councilman-at-Large he represents citizens from the entire City of Akron.

Mr. Williams is a graduate of Akron Buchtel High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Morehouse College in 1980 and his Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron School of Law in 1985.

Mr. Williams is currently, deputy executive director for Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, Inc. and was formerly, Regional Human Resources Officer for First Merit Bank for more than 20 years.

Besides his duties on Akron City Council he is active in many organizations. He is a Life Member of the Akron Branch NAACP, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Board Chair of the Akron-Summit Community Action Agency, Associate member, Greater Westside Council of Block Clubs, Board Member of the Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority and the Downtown Akron Partnership.

Councilman Williams is married to Judge Annalisa S. Williams. They are the parents of two children.
