LINDA F. R.
OMOBIENLinda F.R. Omobien was elected to City
Council At Large in November of 2009 and previously served three terms on the Akron Board
of Education beginning in 1994.
She received a bachelors degree from Alcorn State
University; and her M.A. Community Counseling from The University of Akron.
Mrs. Omobien is a mental health administrator and manager
at Community Support Services, Inc., in Akron and is involved in many community
activities.
She is a past president of the Akron School Board and the
Ohio School Boards Association; member of Emmanuel Christian Academy Board of Directors;
president and past financial secretary, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; member Social
Services Advisory Board; Governors Reading and Literacy Commission; the Junior
League of Akron; League of Women Voters; and a life member, Akron Branch NAACP.
Mrs. Omobien and her husband Edward live in west Akron.
