Linda F.R. Omobien was elected to City Council At Large in November of 2009 and previously served three terms on the Akron Board of Education beginning in 1994.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University; and her M.A. Community Counseling from The University of Akron.

Mrs. Omobien is a mental health administrator and manager at Community Support Services, Inc., in Akron and is involved in many community activities.

She is a past president of the Akron School Board and the Ohio School Boards Association; member of Emmanuel Christian Academy Board of Directors; president and past financial secretary, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; member Social Services Advisory Board; Governor’s Reading and Literacy Commission; the Junior League of Akron; League of Women Voters; and a life member, Akron Branch NAACP.

Mrs. Omobien and her husband Edward live in west Akron.
