CITY OF AKRON AND EAST AKRON NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ANNOUNCES MIDDLEBURY MARKET PLACE
A number of partners and guests were gathered in Akron for the groundbreaking ceremony of Middlebury Market Place, a 67,500 square foot shopping center anchored by Dave’s Supermarkets, Inc. a Cuyahoga county Chain. "We are excited about bringing a full service supermarket to one of our Akron neighborhoods. This represents one of our significant developments in the City’s 10 year Enterprise Community Program, said Mayor Don Plusquellic". "We are grateful to our many partners that are helping to make this project possible; he added.

Representatives of the partners providing funding and support for the $12.5 million project included East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation, First Merit Bank, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ohio Department of Development, Ohio Community Development Finance Fund and Dave’s Supermarkets, Inc.

Financing for the shopping center included U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Community Development Block Grants funds (CDBG), 108 loan, Economic Development Initiative Grant Funds, Enterprise Community Zone funds, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Grant funds, Ohio Community Development Finance Fund grant funds, Tax Increment Financing and a mortgage loan from First Merit Bank.

National and local retailers are showing strong interest in the available 25,000 square feet of retail space.
