ALCOHOLISM DIVISION |
The Akron Health Department Counseling Services and
Alcoholism Division is the oldest outpatient addiction treatment program in Summit County
, now in existence for more than forty years. The division provides professional treatment
and prevention services in the areas of alcohol/drug abuse and dependency. Outpatient
counseling services are delivered by State certified and licensed addictions counselors.
Prevention services are likewise provided by state certified prevention specialists.
- Prevention Programs: Drug Free Universe Program; Adult
Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) Program; Adolescent Insight Education Program
- Treatment Programs: Adult Chemical Dependency Program;
Adolescent Chemical Dependency Program; Self-Referral Program
- Treatment Services:
- Assessment
- Individual Counseling
- Group Counseling
- Intensive Outpatient Program
- Aftercare Groups
- Referral services
- Intervention and Treatment services for adjudicated youth in
detention at the Summit County Juvenile Court.
- Prevention Services:
- Presentations, workshops, training, in-services,
consultations
- Drug Free Universe Program - a specialized prevention
program for elementary students in the Buchtel Cluster utilizing astronomy as a prevention
tool
- Adult Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) Program for adult
clients assessed with Alcohol/drug abuse
- Substance abuse Insight Group for adolescents in need of
ongoing education regarding chemical dependency issues.
- Certified by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug
Addiction Services to operate an alcohol and drug addiction outpatient treatment program
and a Prevention Services Program.
- Treatment fees are based on a sliding fee scale for Summit
County residents. Insurance and Medicaid accepted.
- Partial funding from the Summit County Alcohol, Drug
Addiction and Mental health Services Board (ADM Board).
