MATTHEW AMER began his career
with the City of Akron as a seasonal planning aide at AMATS in the spring of 2004. He
resumed those duties again in the spring of 2005 before moving into the private sector.
After a managerial stint at the USPS Remote Encoding Center, he was employed by Diebold
Inc. and then returned to the City of Akron in the fall of 2006 as a member of Plans &
Permits. That office was condensed into a two man operation in February of 2009 after the
Building Department merged with Summit County. MATT now works on
Tallmadge Avenue with Mark Watson.Since moving to the new office, MATTS
primary duties have been to distribute plans for new construction, both residential and
commercial, and to help facilitate the permit process. He works closely with Summit
Countys staff, as well as various City departments and the public (contractors,
designers and homeowners). MATT has consistently performed duties above
and beyond the normal scope of his position for the past 16 months.
MATT is a 2003 graduate of Kent State University with a
bachelors degree in Marketing and a minor in Economics. In 2002, he spent four
months living in Geneva, Switzerland studying Economics. This quickly became the
foundation for MATTS favorite hobby: traveling. He has since been
fortunate enough to visit 20 foreign countries, with Jamaica being the most recent in
2009.
In his spare time, MATT enjoys playing basketball and guitar.
Hes an avid sports fan, particularly of the NFL, and his favorite teams are the
Cleveland Browns (unfortunately) and the New Orleans Saints. He currently resides in the
Ellet area.
