ROBERT KEENER has been a member of the
Akron Fire Department since August of 1992. During his career, ROB has
been very active with additional duties beyond responding to fire calls. ROB
became an EMS instructor very early on and is certified to instruct Basic Life Support,
Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, International Trauma Life
Support, Pediatric Trauma Life Support, Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical
Services, and Special Children's Outreach and Prehospital Education (SCOPE)
ROB is also one of the original members of Akron Fires Technical
Rescue Operations Team. The TROT team operates out of Station 7 on North Hill and is
responsible for High Angle Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, and Trench Rescue.
ROB was promoted to Lieutenant in May of 2005. Since becoming a
company officer, ROB has served as a Training Lieutenant which adds the
responsibility of guiding the newest members of the fire department through the three year
long Apprenticeship Program.
ROB recently distinguished himself for developing a new Patient Care
Report for Akron Fire Departments EMS System. HE has also been
invaluable in assisting in the development and implementation of AFDs new Incident
Reporting software.
ROB is a dedicated family man that is blessed with a wonderful wife
Terri, twin boys Alec and Aaron, and daughter Megan. When ROB is not
spending time with his family, he is an avid golfer and has been a volunteer at Firestone
Country Clubs World Golf Championship for many many years. ROB was
honored for his years of service with the position of Tournament Director in 2008.
Lieutenant ROBERT KEENER has been a dedicated Akron employee for 18 years. HE
has demonstrated his commitment to serving our citizens by consistently stepping forward
to take on new and challenging responsibilities, by responding to a myriad of fire and
rescue situations, and by providing excellent, compassionate Emergency Medical care.
