| OFFICER EDWARD STEWART began his career
with the Police Department on November 8, 1993 as a Clerk Typist I. In 1994 he
successfully passed the police officer test and became a recruit in the departments
academy. Since his graduation from the academy, ED has been assigned to the 3:00
p.m. 11:00 p.m. Uniform Patrol shift. OFFICER
STEWART primarily drives a patrol wagon. He is known as one of the most proficient
officers at this assignment. ED is constantly volunteering for calls and is always
quick to provide back up for those that need it. He also has the uncanny knack for
memorizing license plates and locating stolen autos.
ED is devoted to the job and is always the last
officer back to the station at the end of the night because he handles so many prisoner
transports and other calls. He has the ability to develop a rapport with the prisoners he
transports and will interview them about their knowledge of serious crimes that are under
investigation.
ED and his wife Lisa have been married 23 years. He
and Lisa have two sons, 19 and 23 years of age. In addition to spending time with his
family, ED enjoys playing chess and conducting research on topics to improve
tactics, such as the safety of officers and how officers interact with the citizens in the
community which he always shares with supervisors and other officers.
OFFICER EDWARD STEWARTs tireless dedication is
a great example of an Akron Police Officer. He is a credit to the police department and
the citizens of Akron. |
