BUD LUNDSTROM began his career with the City of Akron on June 11, 1956 as a Recreation Leader in the Recreation Bureau. He retired in 1991 from the City and Akron Public Schools where he taught for thirty-one years as Central Hower High School teaching bookkeeping, computers, and math. To this day many of his students still keep in contact and always refer to him with great respect and pride.

BUD continued with City as a Seasonal Recreation Leader and on April 18, 1994 became a permanent part time supervisor. He has spent his entire career spanning fifty-two years with the Recreation Bureau and has been our heart, soul, and mentor with a quick wit that touches all of us.

BUD and his wife Pat have been married twenty-two years. Bud has five step sons. He graduated from the University of Akron in 1960 with a Bachelor of Education. He is also a member of the Optimist Club, on the board of the Towpath Credit Union, and volunteers for St. Bernard’s Church, part of which includes making sandwiches for the hungry of Akron every Thursday morning.

BUD is an inspiration to all of us always willing to help. He has been a friend to everyone, sharing his knowledge and wisdom with humor whenever he can. He has certainly earned the title "Mr. Recreation"
