2007 Outstanding Employee Recognition Program

PAT JONES

DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT

CAPITAL PLANNING DIVISION

Secretary I

DECEMBER 2007

PAT JONES

Pat with Mayor Plusquellic

PAT JONES began her career with the City of Akron in June 2004 as a Secretary I in the Capital Planning Division. PAT staffs the reception desk on the 4th floor of the Municipal Building. Her duties include greeting and directing visitors, answering and routing telephone calls, routine typing and secretarial duties, and assisting visitors and staff when the workday begins.

MRS. JONES is willing to take on any task assigned, is eager to learn new things, and takes on added responsibility in order to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Planning Department. PAT is constantly broadening her knowledge in order to give callers and visitors the most succinct, correct information possible. Pleasant and approachable, she has made helping the public a top priority and she strongly believes in government responding to the concerns of residents.

She is always on the look out for ways to make the workplace safe and efficient for the staff and City Hall easy for visitors to navigate. Staff members know that if they ask a question, she won’t rest until she has an answer.

PAT grew up in Tallmadge where she met her husband Larry, whom she's been married to for forty-seven years. Together they have one daughter Cheri, two granddaughters Mandi and Jaci, and one great-grandson Dylan. In her spare time she pursues her hobbies which include lace making, silk flower arranging and woodcarving. Pat has volunteered with the Girls Scouts, her church, United Way, the Diabetic Association and the Arthritis Foundation.

PAT JONES is an asset to the Planning Department. She has such a positive attitude and she is truly an ambassador for City Government. She truly believes that because of her efforts God opened doors and made a way for her to become a part of the City of Akron Family.
