MALINDA SAMPSELL began her career with
the City of Akron Police Department in the Planning Research and Development office on May
20, 2002. She was hired as s contract employee following her internship in 2002. She
became a City of Akron employee hired as a Law Enforcement Planner II in the Spring of
2006.MALINDA is responsible for researching and applying for grants. Once the
grants have been awarded, she is then monitors and assists in administering them. SHE
has written and managed grants such as the OCJS Byrne Grant to enhance court security and
the OCJS Byrne Grant to transition CSU to digital photography, among other grants.
MALINDA also takes time to assist the crime analysis unit with creating and
developing maps. SHE has worked extensively with Drew Kelly in the gang unit to
create a map that identifies the cities gangs and their locations in the city. This map
has been instrumental in grant application and has been used by the FBI and Sherri Bevan
Walshs office in gang cases.
MALINDA in an asset to our department. She is such a conscientious person,
professional employee and one who constantly strives for excellence.
