JOE PREKOP began working with the City
of Akron in the Engineering Bureau in January 2000 as a student intern. In October 2001 he
was promoted to a Computer Programmer I and to his current position as Applications
Programmer in July 2003. HE transferred to the IT Department in May 2004.JOE
is responsible for maintaining, upgrading and troubleshooting the City’s computer
network and server environments. HE recently worked with Traffic Engineering to
implement their new traffic camera and control network. MR. PREKOP has also worked
with Water Pollution Control to set up their new Rack 40 video and control network.
In his spare time, JOE enjoys traveling, bicycling, photography and of course
reading computer and networking manuals. JOE graduated from the University of Akron
in May 2003 with a BS in Business Information Systems.
JOE PREKOP is very professional and is always called upon for guidance,
recommendations and assistance. HIS willingness to spend the extra time and effort
needed to get a job done is a valuable asset to the IT Department and the City of Akron.
