DETECTIVE CRYSTAL BOWEN-CARTER
began her career with the Police Department in 1992. She has been assigned to the Juvenile
Unit since February of 2002. She consistently displays a strong work ethic with respect to
her juvenile crime investigations. She has been the lead detective in multiple homicide
and juvenile rape investigations.DETECTIVE CARTER was recently recognized by the
U.S. Marshalls Service for her dedication and work on the John Lockhart case. John
Lockhart was listed on the U.S. Marshalls Most Wanted list. Her continued dedication
and desire to see him apprehended let to his eventual arrest in California. He ultimately
pled guilty and is serving a life sentence. This constant dedication is common to DET.
CARTER.
HER excellent investigations and thorough documentation is well known both in
our unit and with the prosecutors office. SHE is always willing to assist
others in their investigations.
DET. CARTER sets a high standard in her investigations and continues to go that
extra mile to help juvenile victims of crime in our community. SHE enjoys working
with the Akron Public School Students in the Students, Teachers and Officers Mentoring
Program (STOMP).
CRYSTAL assists with her mothers clothing store, Paulettes Boutique.
SHE and her family are members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and during her spare
time, she enjoys sewing and playing bingo.
