LT. DAVID SIMS began his
career with the Akron Fire Department November 16,1978 as a Firefighter/Medic. He was
promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 1986 and worked as a Fire Inspector in the Fire Prevention
Bureau for four and one half years. LT. SIMS currently works as the
"B" shift supervisor (House Lieutenant) of Fire Station No. 13 located in
Firestone Park at Wilbeth and Brown. Despite being one of the oldest stations in the city,
Station No. 13 constantly wins the "Keep Akron Beautiful" award thanks to Lt.
Sims continual work inside and outside of the station. His diligent effort reduces
cost of repairs and brings positive comments from the citizens of the Firestone Park Area.
LT. SIMS supervisor rarely has to intervene or correct any problems
concerning him, his men or his station notwithstanding being one of the busiest engine/med
units in the city. LT. SIMS accomplishes all that is expected and then some,
attesting to his knowledge of job and work ethic.
LT. SIMS and spouse Donna, have been married for 30 years and have three sons:
David, Frank and Paul and one granddaughter, Carmen.
