ROBERT LANGSTON began his career with
the City of Akron Fire Department as a Firefighter/Medic in October 1992. In 1995 he
graduated from the Paramedic Education Program at Akron General Medical Center and was
recognized by his peers with the designation of "Class Leader". In 1995 he was
assigned to Fire Station No. 4 where he continues to work today as a firefighter,
paramedic and specialist on the Hazardous Materials Response Team. He has recently been
assigned to the training manual update committee. He also acts as a preceptor in the
paramedic-training program helping current paramedic students with their training and
skills.Fire Station No. 4, and in particular Medic 4, is one of the Fire
Departments most active locations. Individuals working on Medic 4 experience one of
the highest run volumes within the department, and while we have many individuals who
spend several years there, it is a challenging and demanding assignment. Robert has the
distinction of having spent the last eleven years at Fire Station No.4. He has
consistently provided service to the citizens of Akron in a competent, conscientious and
caring manner. His actions serve as a positive example to the entire Fire Department, and
he has earned the well-deserved respect of his peers.
ROBERT takes time to participate in the community. He shares his knowledge and
expertise by providing CPR training to groups within the community.
When not working, Robert and his wife Malinthea enjoy spending time with their three
children, sons Allan 16,Kyle 3, and Collin 15 months. Robert also enjoys relaxing with
friends during a round of golf and plays on the department golf league.
