| DON CALVERT began working with the City
of Akron as a Wastewater Quality Aide in 1973. HE was promoted to Wastewater
Quality Technician in 1974; Lab Analyst II in 1980 and Lab Analyst III in 1987. As a
Laboratory Analyst III, DON monitors the daily operations of WPCS. HE
prepares numerous internal reports for the plant and suburban community flows. DON
is also responsible for the plant Monthly Operating Report, biomonitoring, dioxin testing,
WPCS Annual Report, Annual Priority Pollutant testing, Annual Discharge Monitoring
ReportQuality Assurance (DMR-QA) and the Annual Hazardous Waste Report. HE
makes sure the lab has needed supplies and maintains the integrity of the lab database.
DON currently volunteers with the Akron Reads project. HE assisted the
Biology Department of Ellet High School in understanding the Cuyahoga River. HE is
also past chair of the Northeast Ohio Lab Analyst Committee. The Northeast Ohio Water
Environment Associated granted him the Lab Analyst award for 2002 and more
recently, he has been admitted to the highly prestigious Crystal Crucible Society.
DON has demonstrated that he is a valuable resource. HE helped coordinate
between several pilot studies for new treatment technologies at the plant. HE offers
advice to plant operations based on trends and proposed regulations. HE conducts
tours of the lab as part of his commitment to public outreach and education.
DON has an extreme level of experience and uses that experience to the
Citys benefit. HE employs high levels of organization skills and always has a
positive outlook. |
