SGT. MICHAEL YOHE
started his career with the City of Akron as a police officer in 1995. HE was
promoted to sergeant in 2001 and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division on Platoon
5.
MIKE was in the first Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) class and
responded to the highest number of calls involving those in crisis during the first year.
When Lt. Mike Woody retired, MIKE YOHE assumed the role of CIT Coordinator. As
Coordinator, hes the primary contact for CIT for our department. SGT. YOHE plays
a major role in other areas of the program which include 1) the application, selection and
interviewing process 2) CIT training; and 3) the CIT Outreach Program in which police
officers accompany Community Support Services caseworkers on client home visits. MIKE
maintains the taser equipment and is an expert on the subject. HE also keeps
inventory, supply training and record keeping.
Aside from CIT, SGT. YOHE is a SWAT Team Leader, is in charge of
AMHA Metro Car 7 and the Bike Unit, which involves hiring and training officers who work
detail.
MIKE graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelors
of Science in Biology and received a Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Kent
State University. HE is married to Judy and has two stepchildren.
SGT. YOHES an outdoorsman whose hobbies include canoeing,
fishing, hiking and bicycling.
MIKE is passionate about his job and is an asset to the City of
Akron.
