MICHAEL LOZOWY became an Akron fire
fighter in September, 1978. Throughout his career he has been a competent and
conscientious employee and has demonstrated his commitment to serve the citizens of Akron
through his performance as a fire fighter, paramedic and company officer upon his
promotion to Fire Lieutenant in April, 1997.LT. LOZOWY has spent the last five
years in the EMS Bureau where he is the Akron Fire Department EMS training officer. MIKE
is to some extent involved in all A.F.D. training of a medical nature as the coordinator,
lead instructor or liaison and truly excels in these rolls due to his genuine interest in
providing the best possible training to those who serve the public. It is not unusual to
find him in the office after hours or on his day off attending to details and making final
preparations for an upcoming class.
MIKE serves as coordinator and liaison for the many special events every year
that require EMS. We, as a department, are often most visible to the public during these
events and he is the person behind the scenes that makes sure everything is handled
properly. HE has a thorough grasp of what is needed, how to get it and who to speak
with. MIKE also often personally oversees these events just to make sure everything
goes as planned. HE fills many additional roles and responsibilities and quite
simply one of those people that steps forward when something needs done. MIKE does
not seek personal recognition or reward for his action, just considers it part of what he
is here to do.
MIKE enjoys playing baseball in the Silver League, riding his motorcycle. HE and
his wife, Mary, also enjoy spending time with their children, grandchildren, horses and
traveling.
MIKE has a positive attitude and often expresses he much he enjoys his work and
how thankful he is for the opportunity to serve.
