GELIA EVANS (she prefers to be addressed as Judi) began her career with the City of Akron Fire Dept/Fire Training Bureau as a Secretary II in June, 1992. SHE was promoted to Secretary III in October, 1996.

JUDI is very friendly, helpful, and efficient in the performance of her duties. As secretary at the Fire Training Bureau, JUDI has many responsibilities, including preparing correspondence, mailings, training material, file maintenance, ordering supplies and responding to telephone requests. JUDI maintains fire-training records for Akron Fire line personnel, manually and in database format; apprentice records and summarizes various records monthly. SHE maintains fire training instructor certification files and initiates updates and prepares additions and revisions to the Akron Fire Department Operations manual.

JUDI assists instructors with recruit classes including training documents, forms, and correspondence. SHE organizes recruit class graduations including speaker requests, invitations, site selection, and graduation brochure. SHE handles travel arrangements and reservations as well as Banner entries. SHE prepares annual report information for the Fire Training Bureau and reports for department personnel regarding status of ongoing training. JUDI maintains the work record information of the department videographer, verifies works schedule, and counsels regarding work matters.

JUDI has one daughter, Milissa, son-in-law Glenn, and four wonderful grandchildren, Elissa, Chloey, Tyler, and Logan. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and family, family dinners and sightseeing trips. HER hobbies include her grandchildren, auctions, shopping and selling on eBay, family genealogy and the Cleveland Browns.
