HAROLD SCHUMACHER began his career with the City of Akron as a seasonal in the Johnston St garage in 1973. HAROLD became a permanent employee on May 15, 1974 as a Water Maintenance Worker I. He was promoted to Crew Leader on May 22, 1978 and was promoted again to Water Maintenance Worker II on September 9, 1979.

HAROLD has worked in all areas of Water Distribution. He has been the temporary foreman over the grass crew, filled in as yard foreman, and worked as an inspector. He has also worked in Industrial meters and the Domestic meter shop. HAROLD is now making good use of his wealth of knowledge as the AMR representative to Honeywell. He works tirelessly to assist Honeywell in installing the new meter reading system while safe-guarding our customers’ and the City’s interests.

HAROLD is married to a wonderful wife Linda, who incidentally is an excellent cook. He has a beautiful daughter Colleen who is presently living in England with her husband Tim and Harold’s pride and joy, Ann, their first granddaughter. His son Kevin works at Rocky Knoll in the maintenance department and will be getting married in July.

HAROLD’s favorite hobby is stockcar racing and he works part-time at the Barberton Speedway.

HAROLD is always willing to help out in a pinch and has devoted himself to serving the City of Akron and it’s residents with pride.
