MARCIA STALLWORTH began her career with
the City of Akrons Law Department on March 17, 1986. On May 3, 1989, she resigned
and moved to Nashville, TN where her husband attended divinity school. In August 1993,
Marcia moved back to Akron and resumed her career with the City in the Mayors Office
of Economic Development as a Secretary III. MARCIA is responsible for support services
to the Economic Development staff. Her duties include weekly attendance reports, typing
services, and telephone duties. She works on various projects such as Akron Reads, the
Navy League, E-Procure data inputting and receiving leads, D & B ordering, Akron Small
Business Initiative implementation, the Economic Development website committee and the
ICIC Committee.
MARCIA is an active member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church where her husband,
Ernest Stallworth, serves as pastor. She is the Sunday Superintendent and is part of the
P.U.S.H. Prayer Team. Her primary focus is mentoring children, which prompted her to
implement several programs to aid in their growth and development as responsible
individuals which are Girl Lets Talk, Children of Excellence, and Miss Manners.
MARCIA enjoys spending time with her adult children, Ernest and J.R., and her grandson,
Ernesto, who is six months old.
MARCIA is an asset to the City of Akron. She is dependable, skilled in all phases of
clerical duties and a very hard worker. Due to her great computer aptitude, she is called
upon to assist the Mayors Office and other offices with computer related issues. She
is always eager to help. MARCIA exhibits excellent organization skills, creative problem
solving and a take charge attitude. She goes well beyond what is expected of her and is
well deserving of this award.
