DAVE MARTINE began his career with the City of
Akron on November 18, 1965 as a Sanitarian. He was promoted to Sanitarian Specialist in
1968. He became a Sanitarian Supervisor in 1987.DAVE graduated from Bowling Green State
University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. DAVE is married to Jo Ann and they have
a son Scott and a daughter Traci. DAVE is a member of the Mens Garden Club and he
also enjoys fishing, golf, traveling, photography and stained glass.
DAVE has supervised most areas in the Environmental Health Division during his tenure.
He is currently the Supervising Sanitarian for mosquito, pest and animal control
activities, animal bites and rabies prevention, swimming pool and spa licensing and
inspection, illegal dumping and hazardous waste problems, solid and infectious waste
licensing and inspection, wells and septic permits and inspection, and the Health
Departments Right to Know Program. DAVES conscientious management of the
mosquito control program has saved the City thousand of dollars over the years. He has
been responsible for the removal of many scrap tire sites, helping to eliminate eyesores,
nuisance mosquito breeding sites and potential health problems.
DAVE works exceptionally well with his fellow employees and the public. His patience
under some very difficult situations involving illegal dumping and nuisance and litter
problems has been remarkable. DAVES work ethic and aptitude for getting the job
completed is outstanding. He is a team player and has been instrumental in resolving many
situations involving several City divisions or departments. His knowledge of the
Citys organization and where to refer problems has been indispensable.
