| ROSSELL "DICK" FENDER began his
career with the City of Akron on November 26, 1975 as a Cable and Line Worker. He was
promoted on March 25, 1981 to a Signal Line Worker. On December 1, 1986, ROSSELL was
promoted to his present position of Signal Line Foreman. DICK and his wife Rose have
been married 26 years and have five children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
His hobbies are fishing and gardening and he plans to do some traveling after his
retirement at the end of the year.
DICK supervises and participates in the design, construction, installation, maintenance
and repair of all aerial and underground city-owned telephone and fire alarm systems.
DICK is very conscientious about his work and gives 110% to every project in which he
is involved. DICK can be counted on to respond to an emergency repair no matter the time
of day or night. He is extremely reliable and he consistently performs at a level that
truly makes him an asset to the Communications Division. Whenever an extra hand is needed
whether in the field or in the office, DICK is there to assist. DICK can be counted on to
raise and lower the American flag on a daily basis. In the snow season DICK can be found
plowing the parking lot early in the morning before the other employees arrive. |

DICK is likable and easy-going, yet professional. His demeanor is such that employees
enjoy working with him and he is well respected. DICK willingly goes the extra mile beyond
the duties of Foreman on a daily basis while maintaining a positive attitude and whistling
a tune. DICK is truly an asset to the Communications Division and the City of Akron. |
