| TIMOTHY SMITH began his career with the City
of Akron on March 11, 1985, as a Firefighter/Medic. TIMOTHY and his wife Linda have been
married 28 years and have resided in the Kenmore area for 24 years. TIM and Linda are the
proud parents of four grown-up children: 22-year-old twin daughters Kathy and Sarah,
24-year-old son Timothy, and 28-year-old Rebecca. TIM and Linda also have four
grandchildren. Linda is also a City of Akron employee who works in the Taxation office.
TIMS hobbies are computers, digital photography, electronics, and NASCAR.
TIM was a Paramedic for ten years, nine of those years working out of Station 3 on
Maple Street. He was transferred in 1999 to Safety Communications/Information Systems
where he has a large number of duties that include maintenance of computers at fire
stations, troubleshooting computer problems, upgrading RAM and/or hard drives,
installation of Motherboards, PCI cards, monitors, and printers. TIM also sets up network
components to communicate between dispatch, fire and police stations. He works in
conjunction with the Communications Division personnel to configure new hardware for all
fire stations, Fire Maintenance Facility and Safety Communications, including new tuts,
switches and hubs. TIM installs print servers for station alarm printers and troubleshoots
station alarm printer problems to ensure that station personnel can print fire reports. He
updates personnel or CAD information, maintains and updates Akron Fire Department
Intranet, and provides user support for Fire Administration, Akron Police, and Safety
Communications personnel dispatchers and call takers. TIM makes new ID badges for the
Police Department, provides support for Banner/PeopleSoft, Access databases, Microsoft
Word and Excel, and support for fire department MDTs, MW520, 9100T, and CF-2
installed in fire trucks, command cars, and med units. TIM provides technical
specifications for fire training video equipment for purchase. |

TIM is an exceptional employee that does an excellent job. He is very dependable and
self-motivated. TIM takes the time to help anyone, no matter what the task may be, and he
doesnt complain about it. He goes out of his way to make the job of others easier or
point them in the right direction when there is a computer problem. TIM will do any job
necessary, as he has repaired broken windows and chairs at Safety Communications. TIM
provides help to users at AFD, APD, Dispatch, Fire and EMS training. TIM is well liked, respected and recognized by his co-workers as
a person that is very hard working and highly conscientious. |
