PRIVACY POLICY 4/2001

It is our intention to protect the privacy of all Akron Municipal Employees Credit Union members. We take seriously our obligation to keep your information confidential and accurate. It is the Credit Union's intent to comply with all applicable laws and regulations concerning the treatment of both member and non-member information, and educate our members to their privacy rights under law. This policy outlines the purposes for which member information will be collected and released outside the Credit Union. If you have any questions about the privacy of your information, please contact us at (330) 375-2020.

The Credit Union will only collect that information necessary to establish and on-going relationship with members and joint account holders. Information on an individual member may be collected from a variety of sources, including the member's signature card, loan application and credit bureaus.

In some circumstances third parties are used to perform specific tasks such as check printing and consumer communications. We belong to several credit bureaus and similar agencies that require disclosure of late payments charged off loans, and other similar items. We must also provide information to third parties in order to complete banking transactions such as electronic funds transfers, and MAC transmissions. We cooperate with other Credit Union's, banks, organizations and law enforcement agencies to prevent bank fraud and other financial crimes.

The Credit Union may disclose nonpublic personal information about an individual member or members with member consent, in order to effect a transaction, to protect the Credit Union's interests, or for other purposes permitted by law and regulation. We will only disclose this information about our members to affiliates and third parties who demonstrate a consistent commitment to the protection and confidentiality of member information, and who have adopted privacy policies comparable to these adopted by the Credit Union.

AMECU's employees are informed of their responsibility to protect confidential member information and are bound by our Privacy Policy. Staff will only be permitted to access member account information when necessary for business reasons. The Credit Union will establish appropriate security standards to protect against unauthorized access to member information.

We work to ensure that your member information is accurate. It is important, however that our members do their part by reviewing statements carefully, informing us about change of address and promptly notifying us about errors and discrepancies. To update your information please contact us in writing at AMECU, 146 S. High St. Concourse Level, Akron Ohio 44308.

The Credit Union is proud of its commitment to member confidentiality and will make this policy available to any member requesting it. This policy is also posted in our Internet web page.

AMECU has certain security procedures to guard against unauthorized access to information about our members. Any member who believes that the confidentiality of his or her financial information has been improperly violated, should let us know immediately by calling (330) 375-2020.
